Hello
We are driving down from B.C. Canada and would like to drive Zion Canyon up to the Temple of Sinawava trailhead at the beginning of April (6th to 8th). I do not know if private car travel is available then.
Could you please let me know? We have a small dog (not allowed on the shuttles). We would not be able to really see the park at all without driving with our pet.
Also, I believe Kolob Canyons is open to driving the length of the park unrestricted. Is that so?
Thank you for your assistance.
Regards
Jamie Brown

It looks like you may just miss it Jamie. From April through October, you can only access Zion Canyon by free shuttle bus. You can take private vehicles into the canyon from November through mid-March.
You can find the shuttle terminal at Zion National Park’s main headquarters near the south entrance in Springdale.
This area includes campgrounds, a cafeteria, a nature center, several amphitheaters, and several hotels.
You can drive Highway 9 …the Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway … through the east side of the park year-round.
And, yes, you can drive a 5-mile stretch of Kolob Canyon year-round. There are numerous scenic pull-outs. You can access this road off I-15 at exit 40.
If you do want to take the shuttle into Zion Canyon, there are numerous “pet hotels” or “doggy day care” facilities in the area. I don’t know any of them personally but here are a few:
1. Doggy Dude Ranch
Rockville, UT
3.7 miles from Zion
435 - 772-3105
2. Red Rock Pet Resort
St. George, UT

3. Hurricane Animal Boarding
Hurricane, UT
